My name is Tom Dunton, I am the owner operator of California Fine Stairbuilding. I am a bay area native, born and raised on the peninsula. I attended Bellarmine for high school and the University of Michigan after that. I studied architecture at Michigan which led me into the construction business. After working my apprenticeship and some years in commercial construction I went on to build custom homes. It was there that I saw a custom staircase being installed and became intrigued. After working for 13 years or so for other stair companies I had the desire to work for myself and in 2002 took the plunge. I like having a hands on approach to jobs from design to manufacturing to installation and enjoy seeing the finished product.
